A study into the theme of objects and objectification.
To create a body of work that is consequentially representative of the words: object, objection, and objectification.
Garments is the result of an in-depth exploration into the theme of objectification, focusing on the physical objects we use to clothe ourselves. The film follows an individual through the ritual of getting dressed, capturing the thoughts and associations that may arise during this intimate process.
The film you see today originated as an editorial piece exploring the relationships between various individuals and their emotional connections to specific items of clothing. Insights from four interviews ultimately shaped the short film’s narrative, emphasising the anxieties, practicalities, and personal expressions tied to a garment.
Garments and the associated body of work were part of my undergraduate degree in Interactive Design at the University of Lincoln, where I achieved a First Class with Honours.
